A few weeks ago I attended Derek Holzer's (macumbista.net) Vector Synthesis Workshop in Helsinki. This experimentation is largely based on vector synthesis and things I learned then and further by myself. There are many stages and techniques involved in this and the emphasis is on experimenting. This was done live too late last night and I'm not so sure about the musical qualities but for early stage experimentation I see great possibilities in these techniques.
- my own graphics made in Adobe Illustrator
- jamming with these .svg-pictures in Oscistudio (by Hansi Raber)
- wav exported from Oscistudio to Derek Holzer's vector synthesis Pure Data library for fine tuning. This stuff was sent to modular via ES-8.
- modules also included: Erbe-Verb, Clouds, some Magneto and Field Kit for quick live mixing...
Shot with a Logitech webcam straight from hardware oscilloscope screen, audio recording made with an external audio interface. The picture and the sound are a bit off sync which grows towards the end which is a pity because just the tight correlation between image and sound is so cool in vector synthesis. Maybe next time with better quality.
